The Molise is a region of central which has as its capital Campobasso. The region borders on Abruzzo, Lazio, Campania, Apulia and the Adriatic Sea. The Molise, is the only Italian region born from Division 2 regions which was established in 1963, for the detachment from Abruzzi and Molise region, becoming the twentieth region of Italy. The region is bathed for about 38 km from the Adriatic Sea. The coast is low and this sandy especially in Termoli near point where it was built an artificial harbour. It stands in the national park region of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise where there are large wooded areas, especially in the Province of Isernia, making it rich in plant species as well as animals. Of great importance are the Oasis WWF Monte Mutria, the Oasis of LIPU of Casacalenda, the massive Matese, the reserve Collemeluccio with its forests of silver fir, the reserve of MAB Montedimezzo, the Botanical Gardens of Capracotta. The fauna is characterized by the presence of the brown bear, chamois, deer, wolf and fox.
